Wedding Music Playlist - and How You Can Create Yours

Wedding Music Playlist - and How You Can Create Yours

For those of you who attended Meishan and my wedding lunch and love the playlist, here you go - https://open.spotify.com/user/11100824860/playlist/5YobC7jIxoazmHpwIGBjoE?si=MPSiPis0Q_us6gXGlE6fDQ I am very serious about my music and I have been responsible for a few of my friends’ wedding music playlist. Hence for my own wedding, I was even more particular.

Methodology:

What I did was compile the desired tracks - music that we both want at my wedding - and then I curated them based on the duration of the wedding lunch (had to cut out some tracks). Then I arranged the sequence of the tracks one by one. I played the individual tracks to see which ones should come after/before the others. Factors that influenced the selection and curation of tracks include: die-die-must-play tracks dictated by the wife, some Chinese tracks to please our families, balancing what I like vs what the crowd knows and likes. Factors that influenced the sequence of tracks include paying attention to the diverse age group of the audience - play newer songs in between older ones so no particular age group will feel bored or out of place; timing of the lunch programme - I wanted the music to build up before the yam-seng ceremony; playing the more upbeat dancey tracks towards the end where our friends would have had more drinks and wanna groove to. I spent min. a week to come up with the final playlist.

Results: people loved it! The music brought smiles to people’s faces and it became a conversation starter at the wedding. Now the playlist becomes the de-facto playlist for Meishan and I at home!

P.S. I also kept the tracks that missed the first cut into another playlist - I call it the Reserve Playlist https://open.spotify.com/user/11100824860/playlist/7uhLcThn9TEUcZaSvSu9dH?si=lDmFMVh3S3CDDgr8YBTQvw
